Pink Moon Spirit Walk
A Ritual Honoring Jeffrey’s Walking of Another Light on the evening of the Pink Moon
Please join us for a ritual of witnessing and honoring the artist of Another Light, JeffreyDorsey.
This will be an experience carried by gesture and sound, entering into sacred space of shared silence and contemplation of the unfolding journey of this vision.
Doors open at 6:30 for guests to connect and explore the paintings. At 7:15, a bell will be rung to invite guests to take their seats to hold space for Jeffrey’s walk through the circle of the paintings. At the conclusion of the experience, guests are asked to carry the silence until they cross the threshold of Union Project and step out under the Pink Moon. Thank you for sharing the gift of your presence and light!
“Walking into a sort of unknown can feel like walking into darkness. We need to practice making space for acknowledging our discomfort and give ourselves time to allow our eyes to adjust to trust the night. This walk/exhibit offers opportunities to honor and access the wisdom of our past and use it to find ways to light the path ahead, for people and planet, one step at a time.”
- J. Dorsey

Opening Reception and Community Drum Circle
Reception begins at 2:00—come see the art and listen to the stories
Drumming begins at 3:00
Join artist Jeffrey Dorsey for the formal public opening of Another Light: Making Space for Healing. Dorsey will share a brief overview of the month's programs and introduce project participant Yamoussa Camara —a professional African drummer who will lead the community in a joyous and healing drum circle.
For thousands of years, drums have been used to communicate across vast distances of physical and liminal space. Drums are used to celebrate, mourn, warn of danger, prepare for war, conjure spirits, and heal. Like people, each drum is unique. And when played, each creates a particular vibration and tone depending on its size, design, and the materials used to create it. Bring your own drum (or any type of percussive instrument) or try one of a dozen or more traditional African drums that will be provided, as we collaborate to create and share good vibrations of purification, release, and celebration.
