Artist's Statement

My creative practices explore the intersections of art, meaning-making, mysticism, and healing.

I combine absorption practices (ritual, meditation, breath work, yoga, writing, music, dancing, and play) with art making practices (painting, drawing, sewing, story-telling, and performance) in order to access, receive, and illuminate liminal space.

Liminal space can take many forms. It is mysterious, and home to animating energies. It is the space in-between—people, objects, concepts. Liminal space is the crossing of thresholds where duality and non-duality meet and mix. Where we are both embodied and Spirit. Where boundaries soften and time is not linear. It is where we connect with lineage and our collective nervous system; where data flows in the form of wisdom and light. So it is also where we can access data necessary to break habitual patterns and heal individual, ancestral, and collective wounds. My work attempts to make these invisible energies visible so that we can reconnect with lineage and re-awaken our imagination. Then and only then can we imagine, shape, and begin to live into a new future.

In this way my work involves co-creation, which requires authentic relationships that move at the pace of trust. Key to these relationships is the awareness of extraordinary beauty in the ordinary. Beauty invites us to pause, witness, and be present: to feel into the spectrum of human emotion.

Another Light invites you too to access, receive, and illuminate liminal space. The work is arranged in a sacred circle to concentrate relationships between the paintings, the people in the paintings, you, and anyone else who enters it. The addition of written descriptions, audio stories, and healing arts events amplifies their mystery and reveals insights and animating energy available to us. Stepping into Another Light is stepping into a portal. One that invites clarity, where old patterns can dissolve and new ones can emerge; and where uncertainty can shift to possibility.

I am grateful to all those involved in making this exhibit possible. It has been and continues to be an act of love. I offer it as spiritual medicine, aimed at promoting balance and well-being for all beings and the more-than-human world.
